South of the France... one often tends to compare its territory an amphitheater opened facing the sea. In the Languedoc-Roussillon, Hérault geography is marked by the diversity of its geology and landscapes. They range from southern foothills of the Massif central, to the Mediterranean Sea, passing through areas of scrubland and the low plain of Languedoc wine. The Hérault is bathed by a Mediterranean climate. PORTIRAGNES the so-called coastal part Portiragnes-Plage formerly redoubt has commonality to the littoral of Languedoc: a cord of popular beaches of tourists. To the North and West of Portiragnes-Plage in an area between the beach, the pond of the great mayor and the canal du Midi, found a wet area called big Salan breeding of various species of birds (flamingos, bee-eaters, garganeys herons, hoopoes, Mallard, shelducks, ibis... and for some years a pair of storks). Beyond the canal du Midi, upwards towards the North, there is the village then an area of scrubland in part cultivated vineyards. The airport of Béziers - Cap d'Agde is settled since the end of the 1990s. In the garrigue it is possible to observe little Bustards, rare (and protected) species of birds in the region.
