Centrally-heated croft house with all modern conveniences dating from around 1780. Sleeps 4/6. Cabhalan Cottage Harris is an ideal location for those seeking an 'away-from-it-all' holiday. A cozy modernised crofthouse dating from around 1780 in a secluded, peaceful spot 100 metres from the seashore and enjoying uninterrupted views across the sea to Skye, the Cuillins and the west coast of Scotland (as well as views of many otters on the shore below!). The single storey cottage was originally a 'blackhouse' with walls up to 5 feet (1.5 metres) thick! Fully renovated, it now has all mod-cons, lots of character and is a simple but comfortable dwelling. The nearest house is half a mile away in each direction and there is a small sheltered bay with anchorage behind the cottage. Fully controllable electric central heating is provided via radiators, and double glazing makes it very cozy. Hot water is also provided by an electric immersion heater. This is all included in the rental price. The cottage has satellite broadband Internet connection, a telephone and stereo CD player/radio. All electricity and local telephone calls are included in the weekly rental. There are a range of books and games so that in inclement weather you can enjoy watching the wild seas from the warm comfort of the kitchen recessed window seats. All bedding is provided except towels.

100 metres from the seashore. Private, secluded and idyllic. No other houses for half a mile. Ideal for fishing, boating (details available on request), walking and beach combing; there are sea-birds, otters, seals and basking sharks to be seen. Nearby are empty beaches, mountains and a golf-course. Of interest is the Iron Age history of the isles including the Callanish stone circles and the Ley Lines. There are many local artists and traditional craft skills not to mention the long and fascinating Celtic and pre-Celtic culture and Gaelic language.
