Casa Laura's accommodation is divided over two floors; the ground floor consists of the lounge and study area, a kitchen which incorporates a dining area, a bathroom and the twin bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a five ring gas cooker, granite worktops and in conjunction with the rest of the house its style is a blend of modern and traditional. The bedroom easily accommodates two twin beds and also houses the washing machine. Upstairs you will find two double bedrooms both of which have breathtaking views over the valley and a modern bathroom. The large terrace is accessible from the first floor and provides a convivial space for al fresco dining and general relaxing. The swimming pool is of a timber construction, (7.35 meters x 3.5 meters x 1.20meters) blending into the environment and the built in wooden bench seating offers a great resting place to dry off whilst enjoying the view.

The Garfagnana is situated in the northern part of Tuscany, nestled between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan Appennine mountains. It is a region rich in local traditions, natural beauty and breathtaking views. In order to protect its beauty in 1985 it was designated a natural park. Naturally the area provides great walking country and from Sillico there are a series of clearly marked walks of varying length and difficulty enabling you to discover the territory and enjoy this wonderful landscape. There are countless mountain top villages to explore and during the summer months many of the villages have festivals. On three evenings in July and August Sillico hosts one of the best. The village is transported back to medieval times, its residents are all in period costume and the cobbled streets lit only by torches. A four course menu is on offer, each course being enjoyed at a different location around the village enabling the guests to really soak up the atmosphere of medieval village life. In contrast Barga holds regular Jazz events throughout the summer and Piazza al Serchio hosts the Accordion National Championships. There are no shortage of good local restaurants offering traditional, reasonable priced menus, one of the most well known, Il Pozzo is only 7 kms away in the village of Pieve Fosciana. Most villages have a weekly market were you can buy fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables.

I personally like to welcome my guests upon arrival but a secure key safe is located by the front door when this is not possible.
