Santillana del Mar is the capital of the homonymous municipality of Santillana del Mar, Cantabria. Medieval village and cultural treasure located 30 Km to the West of Santander, declared a national historic-artistic monument since 1889. It is the most important historic villages of Cantabria, and one of the best preserved of all Spain. The proximity of the Altamira Caves shows that it has been inhabited since always, knowing their best times in the Middle Ages. From Asturias, you reach Puente San Miguel by the N.634 or via the Cantabrian motorway.
