Poppi is placed at the heart of the Casentino Valley, one of the most beautiful of Tuscany. The medieval village is a rare walled city is situated at the top the Castello dei Conti Guidi. The Casentino is one of the four main valleys that has divided the province of Arezzo. Surely the most beautiful and rich in history and culture not yet entirely made up. Is the Valley in which flows the first stretch of the Arno River, which originates from Mount Falterona (1654 m above sea level). Mount Falterona, along with Monte Falco (1658 m above sea level), is the northern end of the Valley, on the border with Italy. Alpe di Serra and the Alpe di Catenaia separates, in the East, the Casentino from alta Val Tiberina. To the West the massif of Pratomagno separates from the Upper Valdarno. Western pads of the complex of Mount Falterona, finally, separate from the Mugello Valley.

The Casentino is one of the four main valleys that has divided the province of Arezzo. Surely the most beautiful and rich in history and is a rare medieval walled town situated at the top the Castello dei Conti Guidi, work of the famous family of architects, and prototype of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Coming down from the Castle meets the Provostship of Santi Marco e Lorenzo (18th century) which houses paintings by Ligozzi and Morandini. Before this, in the main square, is a rare example of Tuscan l agreement late Baroque oratory of Madonna del Morbo, inside a fine Madonna con Bambino by Filippino Lippi. Continuing to the village teacher flanked by arcades (rare architectural element in Tuscany) leads to the Abbey of s. Fedele (sec. XI), rich in works of art if that stand out by bare-stone walls, including a crucifix Giotto.
