Comfortable refurbished apartments ideally positioned to combine the charm of a rural English village with access to the coast. Each consists of a double bedroom, spacious living room including sofa bed, separate fully-fitted kitchen and bathroom with shower and bath. Cot and high chair are available if required and there is a stair gate upstairs. Downstairs has a small, sheltered garden with garden furniture and BBQ, upstairs a view over the countryside to the sea with large kitchen windows which open right up – almost a balcony. A car is not necessary for access to local amenities and beaches. There is WIFI in both apartments. St Helen’s Duver (a sandy dune area of coastline) and the shoreline around the area is noted for its extraordinary variety of maritime plants and wildlife. St Helens beach is child-friendly and relatively quiet all the year round. The larger resorts of Ryde, Shanklin, Ventnor and Sandown are only a short drive or bus ride away. The historic village green, one of the largest in existence, is bordered by picturesque cottages, and all village amenities including two first class restaurants, a village shop /post office, a bus stop, children’s play area and the village pub. Close to the sailing centres of Bembridge and Sea View, St Helens is an ideal centre for sight-seeing, walking, cycling or beach holidays.

Separated from the mainland by a short, low carbon ferry trip, the Isle of Wight has lost none of its charm since it was discovered by the young Victoria in the mid nineteenth century to be a perfect holiday venue. Almost half is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and it has sixty miles of coastline with coastal paths which form some of its 500 plus official walks. The island attracts record levels of sunshine for the UK and has a variety of beach resorts to suit every taste from the rugged surfing beach of Compton Bay to the rock pools at Nodes Point. Over 1000 festivals are listed by the tourist board ranging from internationally renowned pop music festivals to village flower shows and regattas. As well as the obvious attraction of Cowes week at the beginning of August, there are many other sailing events throughout the year and the island is an ideal venue for the pursuit of water-sports, fishing, walking, cycling and riding. There are also castles, country houses, museums and ancient historical sites to explore as well as animal sanctuaries and special children’s attractions.

The island is accessed by scenic ferry trips. The most convenient car ferries are from Southampton to East Cowes (Red Funnel line) or Portsmouth to Fishbourne (Wightlink). Online booking tends to be cheaper. Tescos vouchers may be used. Foot passengers are recommended to book by rail via Portsmouth direct to Ryde Esplanade (includes 10 minute hover-ferry crossing) then take number 8 bus or taxi to St Helens.
